Sophie Livingstone, Chair of Generation Change
Sophie has been Chief Executive of City Year since November 2009, when the organisation was first set up in London. As CEO, Sophie is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and running of City Year in the UK, including driving the organisation towards its ambitious goal of operating in 5 cities by 2020. Sophie has a background working in the charity sector and with young people and was previously Deputy Chief Executive at the Private Equity Foundation, where she first got involved in bringing the organisation to the UK. Sophie has also worked at the Foyer Federation, for environmental regeneration charity Groundwork UK, at ITV and for a Member of Parliament. Sophie is a former chair of school governors, is a trustee of StreetKids International and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In July 2011, Sophie was named in Management Today’s ‘35 women under 35 list’, and in 2012 Sophie helped found Generation Change in response to the Cabinet Office's Decade of Social Action review.
