Rob Wilson, Forum Member
Rob is a serial social entrepreneur. He founded READ International in 2004 to send used books to schools in East Africa. Books not relevant are sold online or recycled to generate funding. Since then the charity have sent over 1 million books and won awards including Best International Aid and Development Charity. In 2008 Rob acted as a founding director of an IT social enterprise called NOPC, which provides affordable, low power, low maintenance, and sustainable computing technology to the next billion. Rob moved on from READ in early 2011 to co-write a book about social entrepreneurs in Africa called On the Up, with funding from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and Vodafone Foundation. He then started a publishing social business called Wripped. Rob joined Ashoka UK in October 2011 as Entrepreneur in Residence, and now works as Strategy Director for the team.
